Clean the ball bearing and the oil pump bore, then stretch the spring about 1/4″ longer. Use a drag link or a chisel to unscrew the cap of the taller tower on the oil pump to access. I studied TSB# NTB92-056 for the 1991-92 SR20DE that mentioned, "a rattle in the timing chain area for short period when the engine is started after a one night soak or at low RPM caused by a leak-down of oil in the chain tensioner." The "countermeasure" part is a re-designed chain tensioner, superior to the original factory one.

Aug 18, 2016 · There is NEVER a better time to install a new oil pump when performing a timing chain set install. If this were my car, maybe not the first time but most certainly the SECOND time I would also install a new oil pump after cleaning the pick up tube.

It is unusual to have the timing chain faulty - how did they determine it was faulty (you would have to strip Yes, oil, but not a large leak. The FL2 has an oil separator instead of the breather filter found in the first model...

It's entirely possible they didn't properly seal the engine's front cover after the timing chain replacement. Also sounds like they didn't get the exhaust manifold (s) attached properly either after re-installing the engine if you're getting that smell into the passenger cabin.
After applying liquid sealant Loctite 5900H or equivalent on the timing chain cover. The part must be assembled within 5 minutes after sealant was applied. Continuous bead of sealant should be applied to prevent any path of oil leakage.

Have a look at the AC compressor and make sure it is dry. When the scroll control valve o-ring leaks, it puts AC oil all over the bottom of the compressor and the oil pan.

So the day after they changed the timing chain and tensioner i have noticed my oil pressure light stays on for more then 10 seconds. It is OEM kia filter and its really weird beacuse it just happened after the chain replacement. Since then i have changed 2 filters also the pressure switch.
